KidsCan's camp a great success

KidsCan and The Sir Peter Blake Marine and Education Centre (MERC) has had 96 children experiencing camp in the last fortnight.  Children from schools in Christchuch, North New Brighton and Central New Brighton got to escape the snow in Christchurch to come to Auckland for three nights and experience the camp for three days.  Hay Park School in Auckland has been enjoying the facilities this week with an array for pursuits such as archery, sailing, raft building and mountain biking.

Jan Clark, GM Marketing & Fundraising of KidsCan says, “It been a delight to see some of our children embracing new challenges and gaining confidence with the range of land and water based activities provided by the management and staff at MERC. I would also like to thank all the sponsors for making these camps possible”

Many of the children had never experienced camp before and many had never left home for a night before.  A few had never ridden a bike before so it was great to see these children experiencing activities that they would never normally get to experience.

A big thank you to Motorweb for sponsoring airfares. Skycity Auckland for organising a trip up the Skytower for the Christchurch children and to Dominos Pizza for shouting the kids pizza one evening.  Also to the Mad Butcher for a bbq and Get A Party Bus and Richies for organising transport.
