Shoes for Kids.

Many people have fond childhood memories of running around in the playground without shoes or going barefoot during the hot summer months. These idyllic memories shouldn’t be allowed to obscure the fact that, for many children, going barefoot is a fact of life, not an option, and that New Zealand’s winter weather can be very hard on feet that are inadequately protected.
KidsCan StandTall provides free quality footwear and socks for children who consistently come to school in winter without footwear or with shoes that are in bad condition. Before the programme was introduced many of the schools we now support reported that they had to sellotape or staple kids’ shoes together as they were often falling apart.
The Shoes for Kids programme reduces foot injuries and keeps little feet warm and dry in winter. So far more than 15,000 pairs of shoes and 30,000 pairs of socks have been given to children throughout New Zealand.
