We’re the official charity of the New Zealand Rugby Union and the All Blacks.

That means a lot.

In June 2008 KidsCan became the official charity of the All Blacks. This partnership was launched at Robertson Road School, Auckland with the handing out of the 20,000th All Blacks adidas raincoat.

“We are absolutely delighted to have KidsCan as the new official charity of the All Blacks and the wider NZRU. The players will get in behind KidsCan and encourage and help them with their work. The All Blacks and the wider NZRU family look forward to helping them out” says NZRU representative Brent Anderson.

Since then the support received from the All Blacks and NZRU has enabled KidsCan to level the playing field for thousands more financially disadvantaged Kiwi kids.

Every year KidsCan receives hundreds of letters from school children expressing their thanks and support for the All Blacks. These letters convey pride and admiration for the team and consequently, their raincoats. This is backed by Massey University Research which has shown many children were so proud of their quality raincoats adorned with the All Blacks silver fern logo that they wore them rain or shine.

“It is resoundingly clear that gifting of a normally expensive and quality item has made a huge impression on the children for this rarely, if ever, occurs” says researcher, Mike O’Brien. He went on to say “Furthermore, there are numerous reports that it has lifted self esteem and pride in both themselves and their schools.”
