Renowned musicians Ladi6 and Nathan Haines, authors Maurice Gee and Joy Cowley, and BMX racer Sarah Walker are among more than 50 New Zealanders who have 'donated' their happiest thought or memory for illustration by students at KidsCan partner schools as part of a fundraising project.

Writer/editor Melissa Mebus spent the first few months of this year gathering quotes, all of which were recently sent out to schools across the country - from Northland to Southland - for illustration. She said initial feedback from schools has been hugely positive and she can't wait to see the resultant artwork coming back over the remainder of the school term.

The end goal of this project is to bring quotes and illustrations together in a book and then donate proceeds from sales back to KidsCan.
