Auckland, June 2013, The KidsCan Charitable Trust is pleased to announce it has received a $30,000 grant from SC Johnson.   The funds received will enable KidsCan to assist more children living in poverty to get the help they need through the school they attend.  KidsCan’s programmes provide children with the basics, a raincoat, shoes, socks, food at school, health and hygiene care through the programmes 341 schools throughout New Zealand.

Jan Clark, KidsCan’s General Manager of marketing and fundraising, says “We are delighted to welcome SC Johnson to our family of sponsors. Their support will enable KidsCan to do even more for the children we support”.

SC Johnson is proud to be a family owned company.  Their business is values based, and throughout the globe each subsidiary is encouraged to partner with local charitable organisations aligned to the SCJ values to make a real difference in the communities. As a group, SC Johnson employees discussed numerous options of how they would like to see SC Johnson NZ supporting the community.  There was a resounding wish to partner with charitable organisations working to improve the lives of children.  There was a strong belief that many problems that occur later in life can be minimised when you receive the support and education you require as a child.

Rachael Brown, SC Johnson’s HR Business Partner, says, “In researching KidsCan, we felt the mission, vision and values were consistent with SCJ and working to assist children was aligned with our family culture.  In presenting KidsCan to the New Zealand team, there was a strong sense of pride at being able to help children living in poverty who were in need of some of the basic essentials.  The team was behind KidsCan and strongly believed in what KidsCan stand for and what they’re trying to achieve within the community.

KidsCan and SC Johnson will continue to work closely to ensure both parties mutually benefit from the partnership. The SC Johnson Auckland team has already participated in the KidsCan food distribution at the KidsCan Albany warehouse and are looking forward to further volunteering and staff engagement.
