Kids are falling behind at school.

Together we can change that.

Winter is the hardest time for kids living in poverty. Too cold and hungry to focus in class, thousands are missing out on the education that offers the chance of a better future.

We need your help to provide 3,500 kids with food and clothing – essentials that will help nourish their bodies, fuel their inquisitive minds, and enable them to arrive at school ready and eager to learn.

Just $30 a month will help us provide food, jackets, shoes and health products to Kiwi kids in need.

More than 150,000 Kiwi kids are going without the basics.

It’s the largest number of children living in material hardship in seven years*. And it’s not okay – Every day that a child sits shivering in class, or arrives at school too hungry to focus, it’s another day where they fall behind.

But teachers tell us when children are fed and warm everything changes. They settle in class, learn, develop better social skills and thrive.

“I've seen students break down or become disruptive mid-morning, only to find they haven't had breakfast or are worried there's no food at home for later. Their behaviour is often misread when in fact they're just hungry.” -Teacher at KidsCan partner school

“Students who live with food and housing insecurity often leave school earlier and move into jobs that have limited earning power and ability to cover basic living costs. School has often become a challenge and a grind, because every part of life has become difficult." -Teacher from KidsCan partner school

“One student who was regularly provided breakfast at school went from struggling to engage in class to becoming a confident learner and school leader within a year. His progress highlighted how powerful basic nutritional support can be.” -Teacher from KidsCan partner school

"I've observed Year 4-6 students who are very capable when engaged but who simply "switch off" due to hunger. Their test scores and participation levels drop compared to well-fed peers, despite having similar potential." -Teacher from KidsCan partner school

Daily impact.

A monthly donation offers stability and continuity to kids in need. With you alongside us, we can keep children fed, clothed and healthy for as long as they need us.

A solid foundation.

A monthly donation helps us to plan, evolve and expand our programmes. Your support is the rock on which we can build.

Less admin, more support.

A monthly donation is cost-effective for us to process – so more of your money goes to our work on the ground in schools and preschools.
